Angie Stone announced the upcoming release date for her new album, Covered in Soul, set to be released digitally and in-stores on August 5th. The soul singer’s latest project features 12 reimagined 70’s soul classics. Classic songs everyone’s enjoyed at one point or another over the years. The R&B Diva’s lead single, “I Believe” was released today – and was originally recorded by Stevie Wonder on his 1972 album Talking Book.

Most people would agree, a majority of R&B cornerstone classics, do not need any remakes – however Miss Stone is not the average artist. Angie Stone has written and produced hit songs like “No More Rain (In This cloud)”, “Wish I Didn’t Miss You” and “Brotha” bringing in four Grammy nominations, four top 10 albums and selling over 9 million copies worldwide. We expect to hear something new on this album, along with arrangements and production that maintains the original’s integrity. Not an easy expectation to meet – but what do you expect when you are improving songs that are considered perfect.
