Wyclef Jean “treated like a criminal” during robbery investigation by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department issued an apology for the wrongful arrest of Hip Hop Legend Wyclef Jean. He was aggressively put in handcuffs during a robbery investigation. The rap star said he was “treated like a criminal” by law enforcement officers.
He may file a civil lawsuit against the police department, has called for an investigation into police profiling. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, meanwhile, defended the stop as a six-minute “lawful detention” that was part of a fast-paced armed robbery investigation. The probe ultimately leads to the arrest of two other individuals.
The 47-year-old hip-hop icon took to his social media to broadcast the unfortunate incident. It shows him in handcuffs beside a marked cruiser blocks from where cops say an armed street robbery unfolded in West Hollywood.
