JAY-Z had no wins at the Grammy’s but in our book, he is already a winner.

On January 27, 2018, The Brooklyn Native, Shawn Corey Carter better known to the world as “JAY-Z,”48, was honor with the  Salute to Industry Icons Award at the Sheraton Time Square in New York. Songwriter Jimmy Jam had this to say ” I can’t imagine a better person to be honored and particularly  doing it in New Year just makes it all the better to me, it was a really great year for hip-hop music.”

Hip Hop star JAY-Z,  appeared on the premiere episode of CNN’s Van Jones Show on Saturday (Jan. 27th, 2018), he discussed how he had to fight to save his marriage to singer and songwriter Beyonce, 36, when asked why he chose to fight for his marriage, JAY-Z replied “that his wife was simply his soulmate, the person I love.  For us, we chose to fight for our love, For our family, To give our kids a different outcome. To break the cycle for black men and women, he added.” He wanted everyone to know in his words “We were never a celebrity couple– we were a couple that happened to be celebrities. We are real people.”

Not only my favorite rapper but he is an icon.

JAY-Z is not only my favorite rapper but he is an icon, one of the best selling musicians of all time, and a businessman. JAY-Z has sold more than 100 million records while receiving 21 Grammy Awards for his music. In 2004, JAY-Z boycotting the Grammy’s, he added

“The reason why he decided to end his boycott of the award ceremony was because “I realized, man, all this is super subjective, and everyone’s doing their best, and the Academy– they’re human, like we are, and they’re voting on things that they like: it’s subjective. And we believe in it because we do. “We can pretend that we don’t care, but we really care, we care because we see the most incredible stand on that stage, and we aspire to be that.  So I realized: I had to be there. That is the idea, for us to all get involved and to push this thing further, but in this industry, we have to….the things that we hold and we love and we treasure, that we respect, we have to get involved. I stand here on the shoulders of all the beautiful people.”
