Fantasia 'Bad Girl' Music Video still image.

Like Fantasia sings in her new music video for “Bad Girl,” she’s “not here to play no games.”

Fantasia slaps on some headphones, laces up her shoes and gears up for an intense workout. First, her trainer pushes her to the limit as they run down the street. It fits the song perfectly as an analogy on how she pushes herself and her man.

Throughout the video she sings ‘I’m just a confident, independent, getting it, intelligent woman / And if my confident /independence, go and get it, intelligence scares ya / then I’ll be the bad girl.‘

“Bad Girl” is one out of twelve songs on Fantasia Barrino’s sixth studio album Sketchbook, an album she describes as a combination of various distinct genres. This album serves as the Grammy Award-Winning singer’s first independent release on her label Rock Soul, Inc. “Bad Girl” is preceded by “Emotions,” an urban radio top ten single and the T-Pain assisted “PTSD.”

Fantasia is kicking off her first headlining tour on October 17th in Columbia, SC with special guests Robin Thicke, Tank and newcomer The Bonfyre. The Sketchbook Tour will visit almost every major city from New York, Atlanta, Chicago and Los Angeles.

If you were wondering how Fantasia got in such good shape mentally and physically, this video gives viewers some not so subtle clues. Fantasia is tough, doing a lot of Crossfit workouts like flipping tires, cinderblock bicep curls, boxing, etc. This is what it took for her to become the strong woman she is today. She is unapologetic about becoming a better woman. So if you don’t like it — so what.

In the song Fantasia’s message of I’ll be the woman you want and the woman you need by being the bad girl. As the saying goes behind every good man there’s a good woman — a woman who makes her man better with tough love. Director Derek Blanks blends everything by using a simple concept with tense visuals.
