Actress and comedian, Tiffany Haddish took to Instagram live, only to surprise her fans with the ‘Big Chop.’ As Tiffany Haddish chopped off all her hair, people started to wonder if they were watching another Hollywood meltdown. One could only think of Brittany Spears‘ hair shaving and umbrella smashing breakdown back in 2007.

Tiffany Haddish’s situation is drastically different from Spears. Tiffany’s decision to cut off all her hair has been in the making years.

The comic took out some scissors and began cutting off her dreadlocks—a look she had for about four months. One of Haddish’s friends in the background shouted, “Wait a minute,” as she clipped two more of her locks. Tiffany uttered that in the past, everybody’s been “blocking” her from cutting her hair. She wasn’t going to let it happen anymore.

Over the fourth of July weekend, Haddish performed in public rocking those locks at Dave Chappelle‘s ‘Chappelle Summer Camp.’ Haddish posed for a group photo, presumably for the last time in public, with a full head of hair.

In the first of three Instagram videos, Haddish says she wanted to see her scalp. Her caption read, “I cut all my hair off cause I want to see my scalp. I know my whole body I know where every mole is, but I don’t know my scalp. So hello Scalp #SheReady to everything.”

In the second video, the comedian exposed her thoughts on why when a woman cuts her hair off, “She gotta have a mental problem?” Tiffany assured everyone that she’s emotionally and mentally stable. As she went on, she touted the benefits of her new look. For instance, being able to workout in the gym longer and letting her hair get wet in the shower.

Tiffany Haddish’s sister gave her opinion of this radically new look. Not that it looked ugly — but she might have regrets about this decision tomorrow. Even saying the actress would be in tears.

In the final video of Tiffany’s ‘Big Chop’ trilogy, we see clippers mowing down what’s left of her hair. The girls joked that Tiffany looked like Rodger from the TV show “What’s Happening,” as they shaved off more hair. Haddish smiled and laughed throughout the entire process — so no stress there at all.

Fellow comedian Michael Blackson, joined in on Haddish’s Instagram live to show support. Other famous friends commented on the new look, including actress Viola Davis and Evan Ross. “Beautiful,” said Davis and “Looks great,” said Ross. Singer SZA chimed in with a “Damn u pretty as hell.”

When it comes to the “Big Chop,” most women choose to cutoff damaged hair for a more natural look. Other famous women like Jill Scott, Toni Braxton, Tamar Braxton, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Solangè and more, have all decided to cut it all off — at some point.
