Award shows are winding down for 2018 with the 2018 Soul Train Awards. This year’s celebration is being taped in Las Vegas at Orleans Arena on Nov. 17th and will air on Nov 25th at 8 PM on BET HER and BET. Some of music’s top performers were announced as potential big winners with their nominations. Unsurprisingly, Bruno Mars, who won huge at the Grammy’s earlier this year by snagging album of the year for ’24k Magic’. Mars is tied with six nominations with new artist H.E.R. Additional nominations include Daniel Caesar, Ella Mai, and SZA all with four or more opportunities to take a trophy home at the end of the night.

Erykah Badu & Faith Evans will accept the Legend and Lady of Soul Awards.

Much like the BET Awards, there are iconic awards given away to entertainers who have done great work. Erykah Badu will accept the Legend Award for introducing her 1997groundbreaking debut effort Baduizm. When Erykah came on to the scene she introduced us to this new lifestyle and ushered in the neo-soul movement.

Another special honor is the Lady of Soul Award which will go to Faith Evans. Faith is known as the first lady of Bad Boy Entertainment has had a career that spans over two decades with eight studio albums. Faith brought us songs we’ll be singing for another two decades — songs like “Love Like This” and her collaboration with P. Diddy, “I’ll be missing you” has made her one of the most respected songwriters in the game.

Co-stars from the hit 90’s TV show Martin, Tichina Arnold, and Tisha Campbell will host the show. Rumors of a Martin reboot have been circulating for months. Arnold and Campbell’s appearance could mean the reboot is on deck for production and an official date might be on the horizon.

Soul Train, as a brand, has been around since the 1970’s. The iconic dance show was started by the late Don Cornelius, who produced a black dance show that gave so many opportunities to upcoming artists over the years. Soul Train continues to influence while honoring the past and empowering the future.
