If you thought that was the end of the Surviving R. Kelly docu-series — you’re wrong. Part 2 of the series premieres January 2nd under the title Surviving R. Kelly Part II: The Reckoning.  Lifetime released the trailer to ‘Surviving R. Kelly Part 2’ yesterday for the upcoming three-night televised event. You can watch the trailer below.

The now-disgraced r&b singer’s accusers participated in part one, which aired at the beginning of 2019 on January 3rd — exploring all of the accusations against Kelly. Each accuser went into great detail about how they met and the intimate details of their time together.

Part two will continue with the events that took place in the aftermath of R. Kelly‘s arrest. We will also have a chance to catch up with the accusers, their families, and former business affiliates.

Surviving R. Kelly Part II: The Reckoning will include remarks from recognizable faces in the entertainment industry such as Damon Dash, Angela Yee, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Mathew Knowles. Jim DeRogatis, the reporter who covered R. Kelly’s 2000 child pornography trial and Tarana Burke, the leader of the #MeToo movement, also appears.

R. Kelly is facing charges of bribery, alleging he paid a state worker back in the early ’90s for a fake ID so he could get married to a then 15-year-old Aaliyah. The fraudulent ID allegedly listed Aaliyah as an 18-year-old young woman. When her parents found the marriage was immediately annulled. Kelly who was 27-years-old at the time is expected to plead not guilty to those charges.

Expected to appear in court against Kelly is a former tour manager, Demetrius Smith, who claims to have purchased the ID on behalf of his ex-boss.
